Timeline of Carreg Cennen Castle
Located on the edge of Brecon Beacons National Park, around 30 miles west of Brecon, the aging cliff-top fortress was constructed in the 12th century, and ancient remains of defenses were discovered dating back to the Iron Age. although a ruin, the castle has a somewhat intact barbican and a few inner chambers built from the bedrock. If you climb, trudging up a steep hill, you will be generously compensated with breathtaking views of the valley. Open daily 9:30 to 6:30. Ticket price: $8.
Timeline
* Feb. 22, 1403: Glyndwr's men freed the town of Hope.
* May 15, 1403: Prince Henry destroyed Glyndwr's homes.
* June 1403: Prince Henry ordered bailiffs to prohibit the sale of grain provisions to the Welsh men of Flint.
* June 24, 1403: The Welsh of Brycheiniog assaulted Brecon Castle.
* July 3, 1403: Glyndwr's army put Llandovery Castle under siege and went on down the Towy Valley.
* July 5, 1403: Glyndwr joined up with Henry at Llandeilo Fawr.
* 1462: Carreg Cennen Castle was demolished, after Lancastrians captured it.
