The Tintagel Castle Cornwall

Though the ruins of Tintagel Castle are strongly associated with the legend of King Arthur, archaeological evidence however paint another tale, indicating the castle only dates back around 1150, the period when it was Cornwall's Earls' stronghold. Romans could have occupied the site, for very early identified remains are of Celtic origin. There are paths which lead down to the pebble beach and a cave famously known as Merlin's Cave. In order to get to the castle, arduous climbing is required over steep steps. Located on Castle Road, 1/2 mile west of the village. Open daily 10-6. Ticket price: $12.
