Hay on Wye Festival and Bookshops

This is a lovely place, situated in amidst of a crumbling ancient castle and low-slung buildings. Richard Booth established a little secondhand bookshop here in 1961. Soon other booksellers joined him, and now there are many shops, making it the world's largest secondhand book-selling center, selling priceless 14th-century manuscripts rub spines at a heavy discount of only a few pounds. Literary Festival takes over Hay-on-Wye for 10 days each May and June to celebrate literature, attracting famous writers from everywhere, even the former President Bill Clinton.
