Caernarfon Castle Prince Charles
Prince Charles received the investiture as the prince of Wales on July 1, 1969 at Caernarfon Castle. The custom of centuries consisted of the Secretary of State of Wales reading the Letters Patent in Welsh, as the Queen gave Charles a sword, the gold rod, ring, the kingly mantle, and coronet. Once he completed the oath, the public greeted him with thundering applause.
