Caernarfon Castle History
The castle was motte-and-bailey, situated in Caernarfon, until King Edward 1 of England took possession and started replacing the castle with the existing stone structure. Both town and castle were collectively the center of administrative activity of North Wales. Consequently, later defenses were erected on a great scale, pumping up its appearance as muscle-bound and intimidating.
